Marketing

Social Media:
The second I feel comfortable enough with my plans and feel that I could run an event the next weekend I will engage in social media...Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter....anything else? I will also reevaluate and add search tags so my "site" (currently a blog as this is what I know how to best use at the moment) so my name will comes up in many relevant searches.

SWOT Analysis

Interactive:

  • Going to community events and talking with people
  • Going to local businesses to see if I can help them first with events and second with marketing (this is one of the main reasons I'm looking into web design courses, so I can create and/or revamp websites for small businesses to help spread the word and gain more business for them. I would love to be able to offer marketing services along with event planning)
  • Flyer and contact information on community boards in businesses such as the ones that are in Starbucks and Panera
  • WORD OF MOUTH - one of the most reliable and flattering marketing tools in my opinion is word of mouth. Words can get around small towns very quickly and who do most people ask advice from? Their friends and people they know because they trust them and it is my hope to do well enough to gain the trust of my clients so they can comfortably and excitedly refer their friends and family to me as well (with that, I should implement some sort of referral program and valued client program as well - it could be formal but I'm leaning towards more informal as I plan to be execute my business in a very personable manner)
  • Booth rentals - I'm not crazy about this idea for how expensive it can be while running the risk of not getting much in return. However, if I strategically pick a few I think it could really pay off. For example, in Columbus, Ohio there is a huge Bridal Show every year and this is something that would be perfect. Thousands of soon-to-be brides, their family members and friends, along with people who just love events and weddings and people who hope to get married one day come and check out everything the show has to offer. I would get mostly wedding inquiries here but everyone attends non-wedding events and many look plan non-wedding events as well so this situation would be fantastic to break into doing more weddings and for the original intention of marketing my business as a whole
